Learn About My VisionMy name is Howard Steiss, and I am seeking to fill the vacant seat on White Rock City Council. Having lived in this beautiful city for 4 years in the uptown neighborhood, I am deeply invested in its future and believe my common sense approach to making lives better, and problem solving can bring a fresh and pragmatic perspective to our city council.
I'm running because I believe in proactive community engagement and sustainable development that respects White Rock's unique character. Our city faces important challenges regarding housing, revitalizing our local business areas, crime prevention and ensuring our infrastructure supports our growing population. I am committed to working collaboratively with residents, businesses, and my fellow council members to find balanced solutions that benefit everyone.
During two years as the President of our 88 unit strata building at George and Thrift, I’ve shown a collaborative engagement with strata council members and residents, problem solving and project management skills which are transferable to effective council work in our city. I pledge to listen carefully, advocate transparently, and make decisions that truly reflect the needs and aspirations of White Rock residents.
I am ready to dedicate my energy to serving you and ensuring White Rock remains a vibrant, thriving, safe and welcoming community for generations to come.
Work towards diverse housing options that are accessible and affordable for families, seniors, and young professionals, while maintaining our city's unique charm.
Foster a thriving local economy by supporting small businesses, encouraging innovation, and promoting our vibrant uptown and waterfront areas.
Invest in robust and sustainable infrastructure, including roads, public transit, and utilities, to support our growing population and enhance quality of life.
Implement proactive strategies for crime prevention and enhance public safety initiatives to ensure White Rock remains a secure and welcoming community.
Advocate for environmental policies that protect our natural beauty, promote green initiatives, and ensure a sustainable future for White Rock.
